Welcome back to Daily Fantasy NBA: Picks and Lineups. I am back for tonights 10 game slate, and am hoping we can begin the upward trend tonight.
It is a New Year, and with that Fantasy Football is all but over. That means between studying and beginning preparation for the upcoming Fantasy Baseball season, NBA DFS will be one of my focal points. It was very nice to enjoy the Holiday break with friends, family and from writing to reset and recharge.
Most people make a resolution of some sort for New Years and I made a few. Some simple, others a little more complex. For example my easy one is to tackle all of the miscellaneous unfinished projects around the house.
My complex one? To win each and every night in DFS! Simple right? I am obviously joking around here, but I do plan to play diligently and within my means as daily as possible, and most importantly actually winning more often than not. NBA will be my starting point towards success this year.
Each week I will be listing players at each position I am targetting and likely using in many lineups. I will also be sharing my actual lineup(s), perhaps not all of them, but at least one for each major site. So far this season I have been using the same lineups in both cash games and tournaments.
If you are new to the game have fun, don’t go overboard, and hopefully we will win some moolah together this season.
Wednesday 1-4-16 DFS NBA Targets
Remember a Starting DFS Lineup on Fanduel must be built using $50,000 and consists of 2-Point Guards, 2- Shooting Guards, 2- Small Forward, 2-Power Forwards, and 1-Center
Scoring: 3 point shot= 3 pts; 2 point shot= 2 pts; Free Throws= 1 pt; Rebounds= 1.2 pts; Assists= 1.5 pts; Blocks= 2 pts; Steals= 2 pts; Turnovers= -1 pt
Remember a Starting DFS Lineup on DraftKings must be built using $50,000 and consists of 1-Point Guard, 1- Shooting Guards, 1- Small Forward, 1-Power Forwards, 1-Center, 1- Guard, 1- Forward and 1- Utility
Scoring: Point= 1 point; 3 point= +0.5 point; Rebound= 1.25 points; Assist= 1.5 points; Steal= 2 points; Block= 2 points; Turnover= -0.5 points; Double-Double= 1.5 points (1 time per player); Triple-Double= 3 points (1 time per player)
Isaiah Thomas, Boston Celtics @ Brooklyn Nets ($8,100 on FanDuel and $7,800 on DraftKings )
Thomas is an affordable option in tonights slate at the PG position. Smith has been playing very well all season, and tonight he faces the Nets. Brooklyn has been allowing the sixth most Fantasy points per game to the point guard position, so I really like Smith’s ceiling and cost tonight. He has been a lock for 35-plus Fantasy points every night so far this season.
(Averaging 34.6 FanDuel PPG and 37.2 DraftKings PPG)
Ricky Rubio, Minnesota Timberwolves @ Philadelphia 76ers ($7,700 on FanDuel and $7,100 on DraftKings)
I typically play Rubio as my second guard, or point guard (On FanDuel) as a cheaper option. Tonight I may actually play both he and Smith rather than a high cost player. the Sixers are a middle of the road defense against the point, but Rubio can pile up stats in so many ways I feel safe using him tonight. Rubio is an assist machine, so he will be doing what he does best tonight.
He also has been averaging 39 plus Fantasy points a game over his last 10.
(Averaging 31.5 FanDuel PPG and 33.5 DraftKings PPG)
C.J. McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers vs Memphis Grizzlies ($8,400 on FanDuel and $8,100 on DraftKings)
McCollum is facing a team that allows the 11th most Fantasy points per game to the shooting guard position. He has been on a tear lately, and although his 69 Fantasy point performance on the 27th of December was exceptional, his performances after that have been solid as well. McCollum has stepped up and even if Lillard returns soon McCollum has earned his play time.
(Averaging 32.9 FanDuel PPG and 35.5 DraftKings PPG)
Evan Turner, Boston Celtics @ Brooklyn Nets ($5,400 on FanDuel and $5,500 on DraftKings)
Turner is another player capitalizing on additional minutes, and since he is a minimal cost I am using him tonight. Averaging 28 points on DraftKings over his last 10 games makes him an appealing play. Even if Smart eats into his minutes.
(Averaging 21.7 FanDuel PPG and 23.1 DraftKings PPG)
Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs @ Milwaukee Bucks ($8,600 on FanDuel and $8,700 on DraftKings)
Leonard is a beast and there is no way to deny it. He is playing like an MVP candidate so far this season. Tonight he is a higher end play, as he should be, but he faces a top 5 in points allowed to his position as well. As you always need to do with the Spurs keep tabs on the lineups, and players getting rested.
(Averaging 38.2 FanDuel PPG and 40.4 DraftKings PPG)
Gordon Hayward, Utah Jazz vs Houston Rockets ($7,500 on FanDuel and $7,500 on DraftKings)
Hayward has been consistent over his last ten games, and has met his cost rather easily. Tonight he will be one of my most used players in lineups. Play with confidence.
(Averaging 30.1 FanDuel PPG and 32.6 DraftKings PPG)
Thaddeus Young, Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics ($6,700 on FanDuel and $7,200 on DraftKings )

Young has been phenomenal this season, and his price is rising, but still not as high as I think it could be. Tonight, he happens to play the fourth worst defense against the power forward position. This equals meeting value with an even higher ceiling.
(Averaging 31.3 FanDuel PPG and 33.4 DraftKings PPG)
Hassan Whiteside, Miami Heat vs Indiana Pacers ($7,500 on FanDuel and $7,400 on DraftKings)
This isn’t necessarily an easy matchup for Whiteside, but his defense and rebound abilities get him to his FPPG each night. At this price he is a solid play every night if you decide to spend up or have the salary room.
(Averaging 33.6 FanDuel PPG and 35.8 DraftKings PPG)
