Welcome to the Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner for Week 8!

Each week, we try to point out the best set of hitters to target each week, so check back every Friday.

Looking ahead to Week 8, top-tier starting pitchers continue to frustrate fantasy owners with a steady barrage of underwhelming performances.

Hitters, however, continue to hit. And as such, should not be taken out of your weekly lineup due to match-up concerns.

This week we’ll focus more on the hottest hitters in baseball rather than hitter matchups. The players we will list below won’t be your average superstars, but rather hitters that are swinging the bat well and could be a great addition to your Week 8 lineup.

Best Hitter Matchups for Week 8

Ryan Howard, 1B, Philadelphia

Howard, whose ownership is extremely low on all your major fantasy sites, continues to swing the bat well of late. Over his last eight games Howard has recorded 13 hits to go along with three homers and six RBI. If he’s not owned, Howard makes a solid play heading into Week 8 where he’ll face off against the Mets and Rockies

Josh Harrison, 3B, Pittsburgh

Perhaps no player in baseball is hotter than Harrison right now. After a slow start to the season Harrison has been on a tear over the past week – recording 18 hits over his last eight games, smacking two homers and five RBI with a .514 average.

While this pace is unsustainable, Harrison his currently playing at an extremely high level and should be a lock in your Week 8 lineup. Harrison and the Pirates also have the benefit of playing the Marlins and the Padres on a full seven-game slate.

Yasmany Tomas, 3B/OF, Arizona

Tomas’ 2015 campaign began in the minors after struggling mightily against Major League pitching. Since being called up, Tomas has improved his approach at the plate and has now recorded double-digit hits in six straight games.

Tomas and his hot bat will face the Cardinals and Brewers in Week 8.

Brandon Crawford, SS, San Francisco

The Giants shortstop has recorded 12 hits over his last six games. He remains one of the hottest bats in Week 7 and makes a fine play at MI with his dreamy Week 8 matchups against the Brewers and the Braves.

First baseman Brandon Belt should also draw a start in your Week 8 roster, as he has fantastic matchups and has been hot of late, registering nine hits over his last five games – recording three homers and seven RBI.

Wilin Rosario, C/1B, Colorado

The Rockies starting first baseman, Justin Morneau, has been on the DL with a concussion, giving Rosario full-time at-bats. Rosario has done the most with the increased playing time by recording nine hits over his last eight games, smashing one homer with four RBI and four runs.

Rosario and the Rockies will face the Reds and Phillies in Week 8. If Rosario continues to get full-time at-bats, he’ll certainly be worth a play in all formats.

Hopefully, we steered your Fantasy Baseball lineup in the right direction with our Week 8 Hitting Planner!
