Week 1 is finally here and after weeks of tinkering with your lineup – you know, the one you set a month ago – it’s time you finalize it and become the next Daily Fantasy Football million-dollar winner at FanDuel.

Okay, so maybe that’s a bit optimistic, but we all have dreams.

Week 1 in the NFL is always the great unknown. What was a great D/ST last year could become just a mediocre D/ST this season, and vice versa. The NFL changes so much from week to week and year to year that it has become increasingly hard to predict. However, it isn’t rocket science – okay, sometimes.

There are ways to aid you in finding sleeper D/ST’s – such as checking SCFE, cause that’s what we do. Checking Vegas lines, cause that’s what they do. And then there’s always picking on the annually bad teams such as the Redskins, Raiders and Browns that continue to give us every reason to believe that they will always be Fantasy’s punching bag.

With a few cheap shots out of the way, let’s jump right into Week 1’s value plays at D/ST.

Week 1 Daily Fantasy Football

3 DFS Value Plays at D/ST

Green Bay Packers D/ST vs. Chicago Bears ($4,500): I’m not saying the Packers’ defense is going to be great this season – in fact, it’s likely going to struggle a ton. But they will have their games, and Week 1 against Jay Cutler and the Bears could very well be one of them.

Although they will be on the road, the Packers intercepted Cutler four times last season and shouldn’t have any trouble blitzing through a Bears’ offensive line that could potentially be the worst in the NFL this year. In addition, star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery’s status for Week 1 is unknown, leaving Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson as your starting WRs. While the Packers will likely give up points, turnovers, sacks and a potential D/ST touchdown are certainly well within reach.

Jacksonville Jaguars D/ST vs. Carolina Panthers ($4,200): It’s not quite a shot in the dark, but close. The Jaguars are playing at home against a Panthers team that will be starting Corey Brown and Ted Ginn at wide receiver. That doesn’t exactly have anyone shaking in their boots.

The Jaguars weren’t very good at forcing turnovers – only six interceptions last season – but they were very effective at rushing the passer, having recorded 46 sacks in 2014 – good for sixth in the league. With the Panthers offense in a bit of disarray after losing wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to a torn ACL, the Jaguars D/ST could be a sneaky play in Week 1.

Minnesota Vikings D/ST vs. San Francisco 49ers ($4,400): The Vikings were a Top 12 defense last season with 41 sacks, 13 interceptions and four defensive touchdowns. In Week 1 they will get an ideal matchup (albeit on the road) against Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense.

Kaepernick’s struggles as a passing quarterback have been well documented and unless he has evolved as a pocket passer this offseason, he’ll likely struggle against an aggressive and talented Vikings secondary. Not to mention that the 49ers offensive line also sets up to be one of the worst in the league this year. DE End Everson Griffen and LB Anthony Barr should have no problem wrecking havoc when Kaepernick drops back to pass.

Good luck in Week 1 and let our Daily Fantasy Football Value Plays help you build that million-dollar lineup.
