With one game down in Week 1, we are coming up on 14 more games this weekend and 2 on Monday. After the Friday practices we bring to you our Week 1 injury report update.
On Friday we took a look at the first two days of practice reports. Much of this information is beneficial to give you an idea of what may happen with the status of your Fantasy Football players.
The thing to know moving forward in this season is that the most important day of practice is Friday. If players can practice on Friday, it is much more likely they will play. With some players, even just a limited practice can be a sign they will play.
This season I will try to read between the lines, and make sure you have a good idea who is going to play so you can plan accordingly.
So let’s take a look at the Week 1 injury report update.
Week 1 Injury Report Update
Michael Floyd, WR
Floyd was limited in practice on Friday. There was no change in his practice participation and he is questionable for Sunday. Make sure to check before game time if you have Floyd in your lineup.
Devonta Freeman, RB
Freeman returned to full practice on Friday. This game is on Monday night, so the practice schedule is a day behind. Full practice with a day to go is a positive sign. Freeman is likely to play in some capacity on Monday.
Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB
Taliaferro was a limited participant in practice on Friday. Unfortunately for Taliaferro, he was also ruled out for Week 1. The possibility for him to be active in Week 2 exists, and a return to practice in any form can be a good sign for next week.
Breshad Perriman, WR
Perriman, along with Taliaferro, was ruled out for Week 1. It is unclear when the status of Perriman will change.
Marquise Goodwin, WR
Goodwin did not participate in practice again. His usage is likely low, but if you were using him in very deep leagues, he is probably out this week.
Ryan Kalil, C
Kalil was a full participant in practice. This is big for the prospects of Jonathan Stewart and Cam Newton. Kalil’s presence increases the skill level of the offensive line for the Panthers.
Star Lotulelei, DT
Lotulelei is out for Week 1. This is a benefit to the Jacksonville offense, and TJ Yeldon, in particular.
Alshon Jeffery, WR
Jeffery was a limited participant in practice again on Friday. Coach John Fox has been playing coy with the status of his injured players this season, so you will need to make sure of Jeffery’s status before Sunday’s game.
Eddie Royal, WR
Royal is in the same boat as Alshon. Limited participation and not a lot of information from the team. Sunday pregame will be when the decision will be made. Keep your eyes on the actives before the game.
Duke Johnson, RB
Johnson was a full participant in practice again on Friday. I would expect to see him playing on Sunday. He should see some action as currently the Browns have only two running backs on the team. The possibility of calling up a back from the practice squad also exists.
Dwayne Bowe, WR
Bowe was a limited participant again in practice. In all honesty you probably shouldn’t be looking to the Browns for much passing game activity, but if you are keep a watch on Sunday for the actives lists.
Eric Ebron, TE
Ebron was a full participant in practice again on Friday. I would expect to see Ebron on Sunday if you are starting him.
Green Bay Packers
Randall Cobb, WR
Cobb was a limited participant again on Friday. So far he has said he will play, and I expect that will be true. Just in case make sure he is active on Sunday.
New Orleans Saints
Jairus Byrd, CB
Byrd, the top corner for the Saints is out for Week 1. This is a great thing for the Arizona Cardinals. I am big on Carson Palmer and the Cardinals wideouts for their first game of the year.
New York Giants
Victor Cruz, WR
Cruz was officially ruled out on Friday. Don’t expect him back until Week 4.
Zach Ertz, TE
Ertz was limited in practice on Friday. Ertz said he is likely a game time decision for Monday. If I were an Ertz owner in a league, I would be finding another option for the weekend.
San Diego Chargers
Ladarius Green, TE
Green was listed as a full participant in practice on Friday. He is listed as questionable for Sunday. Check his pregame status before putting him in your starting lineup.
St. Louis Rams
Todd Gurley, RB
Gurley was officially ruled out for Week 1.
Tre Mason, RB
Mason did not practice on Friday with his hamstring injury. He is officially listed as questionable, but I don’t think he will play. Make sure to check the inactive list on Sunday.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mike Evans, WR
Evans is one of the biggest names on the injury report this week. His high price makes his status of big importance to Fantasy players. The good news is that Evans did in fact participate in practice Friday. The bad news is that his participation was limited, and his status is in question. You must check his status on Sunday morning.
So ends our look into the Week 1 injury report update. As will always, check the status of your questionable players before game time on Sunday and Monday. If you know your player is out, make plans, and for some of the big name questionable guys, make sure you have an available option to plug in in the worst case scenario. Good luck in Week 1.
