Tight ends are the forgotten players in Fantasy Football, but in Daily Fantasy Football, it’s even more of a background character.
As we dip into these Week 14 value plays among tight ends on FanDuel, keep in mind that most people fill this position a little later in their lineup, after nailing down the ultra-important quarterbacks, the high-scoring wide receivers, and the usually reliable running backs.
With Rob Gronkowski (knee) still unable to practice as of Wednesday, this position continues to be one without a clear-cut leader, even though, Greg Olsen has taken over the Jimmy Graham role this season.
Over the past three weeks, Delanie Walker has actually scored the most FanDuel points at the position, with 25 catches and 344 yards, with one touchdown catch. But it’s Scott Chandler and Tyler Eifert that lead the group with three TD catches in that span.
One player that’s really jumping out, though, is Jacksonville’s Julius Thomas, who ranks third in FanDuel points since Week 10, and is about to enter a period where he has the best Fantasy strength of schedule for tight ends.
3 Value Plays at Tight Ends on FanDuel
We handpicked three tight ends for your Daily Fantasy Football pleasure! These three guys are good plays considering their prices and their matchups in Week 14.
Greg Olsen, Carolina vs. Atlanta ($6,600): While Olsen certainly costs a bundle, it’s not up into the Gronk stratosphere, he happens to be Cam Newton’s favorite red-zone target so far this season. There are just three defenses giving up more catches per game (5.92) than the Falcons defense.
Julius Thomas, Jacksonville vs. Indianapolis ($5,900): He has just 18 catches over the past three weeks (for 182 yards), but Blake Bortles likes to look his way in the end zone. Over their past seven games, the Colts defense has given up five touchdown catches to tight ends.

Scott Chandler, New England at Houston ($5,800): With Rob Gronkowski still possibly sidelined, Chandler could be one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets once again this week. The Texans gave up a touchdown catch to Charles Clay last week. Chandler scored last week against an Eagles team that was also pretty tough on tight ends.
3 Tight Ends to Avoid on FanDuel
This trio of tight ends are players you should stay away from for the upcoming weekend of NFL action. Some of these players might be worth a contrarian play in a GPP tournament, but for the most part, they’re players to avoid. I discuss how to pick contrarian players for tournaments here on FanDuel Insider.
Delanie Walker, Tennessee at N.Y. Jets ($6,100): In spite of Walker’s recent success, it’s tough to pay this much for a guy that’s going up against a defense that hasn’t given up a touchdown catch to a tight end since Week 7 (Gronk).
Antonio Gates, San Diego at Kansas City ($5,700): Gates has just two touchdown catches in his past six games, and the Chiefs defense allows the fewest Fantasy points per game to tight ends (4.50) this season.
y'know it's right to get pissed at antonio gates for taking steroids but i would have to take way more drugs to deal with phil rivers

Crockett Gillmore, Baltimore vs. Seattle ($5,200): A bonky back has Gillmore questionable for this week, but the Seahawks are such a tough defense against tight ends, it doesn’t matter if Gillmore plays or not. You should stay away regardless.
