I would first and foremost like to apologize for hopping on the Brandon LaFell bandwagon last week. Everything lined up perfectly for LaFell and he dropped the ball both literally and figuratively. Almost every fantasy expert said that LaFell was going to be a Top 5 wide receiver, but we were all fooled.

On the other hand, my Allen Robinson pick came to fruition when he continued his dominance with 10 catches, 153 yards and three touchdowns.

As Week 14 approaches and the playoffs are on the horizon, big players start to make big plays.

The Colts look to keep a firm grip on the AFC South this week, which is a matchup where their receiving corps will have to step up and make good plays.

Another good match-up will be the Cardinals vs Minnesota. I am interested to see how the Vikings respond after they were blown out last week.

Week 14 Wide Receiver Reactions

Who I Like More

T.Y. Hilton

It has been a roller coaster season for the Indianapolis Colts. Their three-game win streak came to a screeching halt with a 45-10 loss to the Steelers. In that game Hilton only had three catches on five targets. However, the Colts will have to rely on the passing game this week because the struggling Frank Gore will be going against the 13th-best run defense.

This game will have playoff implications so the Colts will be fighting to maintain atop the AFC South. The Colts will come out victorious in this matchup and continue their two-year win streak against divisional opponents.

In the previous meeting with Jacksonville, Hilton only had 67 yards but saw 13 targets from Hasselback. This week Hilton could break out for one those monster games we are accustomed to seeing from him. Additionally, we saw the Jags’ defense get torched by Mariota and the Titans last week for 42 points. I think Hilton will go for over 100 yards and a touchdown.

Larry Fitzgerald

The Cardinals are 10-2 this year and unlike previous years, they have depended on their offense to win games. Both Larry Fitzgerald and Carson Palmer have revitalized their careers during this season. On Thursday night, the Cardinals will go against the Vikings. The Vikings were absolutely obliterated by the Seahawks last week as Russell Wilson picked apart their defense. The Seahawks No. 1 receiver, Doug Baldwin, went for 94 yards and two touchdowns.

Fitzgerald has had double-digit targets and at least eight receptions in the pass five weeks. The Minnesota secondary will be paying extra attention to the speedsters J.J. Nelson and Michael Floyd to ensure they do not get beat deep. This lack of attention will free up Fitzgerald to have a big game against Minnesota’s defense. Fitzgerald will have at least 10 receptions and 120 yards.

Who I Like Less

Martavis Bryant

Bryant has had a great season thus far and his elite speed has been a major reason for his success. It is quite incredible the numbers he has put up, especially considering the fact that he has one of the best receivers in the league in Antonio Brown on his team.

After the Steelers dismantled the Colts last week, they head into a tough AFC North matchup with the Bengals. The Bengals have the second-best pass defense in the league and did not have trouble stopping Bryant in their first meeting. Bryant only had four catches for 49 yards when they played in Week 8.

Bryant will not be able to utilize his speed this week and the secondary of the Bengals will shut him down yet again.

Calvin Johnson

The Lions were poised to be on four-game win streak until the Rodgers-to-Rodgers Hail Mary. Calvin Johnson has been good in the past two weeks, scoring four touchdowns, but he has not been the dominant receiver we are used to seeing. Johnson has only seven touchdowns this year which are not the numbers you expect from an top tier wide receiver.

This week the Lions will travel to St. Louis to play one of the NFL’s premier defenses. The Rams have only allowed 14 passing touchdowns this season which is fourth-best in the league. I think Megatron will have a couple of catches but not have a huge impact on the game or your fantasy lineup.
