Week 8 DFS Picks: Shootout in Cincinnati

Putting together the right DFS lineup is like putting together a puzzle. You must fit the right pieces in the right spots, and hope that it all clicks in the end.

For this week’s DFS column, four of the nine players come from one game.

It all comes down to Cincinnati and Tampa Bay, where there should be an abundance of points scored with both offenses firing and both teams having lackluster defenses.

Good luck this weekend, here are the DFS picks for week 8!

Week 8 DFS Picks

QB Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DK $6,000)

As I mentioned in the open, the Bengals defense is nothing special. Coming off a game where Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs shredded them for 45 points, a big game is in line for Winston this weekend.

I know, I know. It’s been a brutal season for those who have David Johnson on their fantasy team, but better days are ahead. The Cardinals fired their offensive coordinator after the brutal performance on Thursday night football.

Enter Byron Leftwich, the new offensive coordinator. The number one priority for Leftwich should be to get the ball in Johnsons hands early and often, and that starts this weekend.

RB Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals (DK $7,300)

Have you seen the Buccaneers defense? It’s terrible. Mixon was ineffective against the Chiefs and this is his bounce back game.

Last week, rookie Nick Chubb ran all over the Buccaneers. This week Mixon will be in line for a huge day.

WR A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals (DK $8,000)

I’ll be honest, it’s a high price point for Green this week. Coming in at $8,000, Green is worth every penny. The Buccaneers simply do not have a cornerback capable of covering him. Green should see a ton of targets and he will turn that into a lot of yards this weekend.

WR John Brown, Baltimore Ravens (DK $5,900)

From one AFC North receiver to the next. Baltimore faces a tough Carolina Panthers defense this weekend, but they won’t be able to run the ball.

Brown has seemingly been Joe Flacco’s favorite target this year, and that trend will continue this weekend against Carolina.

WR Jermaine Kearse, New York Jets (DK $4,300)

Kearse is a great value this weekend. Coming in at $4,300 and playing against a weak Chicago Bears secondary, Kearse could be in line for a big day.

The Bears could also go up big in this game and force the Jets to throw the ball. Everyone loves garbage time, and game flow could benefit Kearse in a big way.

TE O.J. Howard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DK $3,900)

Howard seemed like the ideal player to stack with Winston this week. The Bengals have a hard time defending the tight end, and they must also account for Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson on the outside.

Howard could be the forgotten man this weekend, and he is in line for a huge day in a game where points will be scored often.

Flex Phillip Lindsay, Denver Broncos (DK $5,200)

Lindsay is in line for a lot of work this weekend without Royce Freeman in the lineup. It also benefits Lindsay that the Broncos are playing a Chiefs team that seemingly cannot stop the run.

The Broncos will also have to throw a lot in this game as the Chiefs will inevitably score a ton of points. When this happens, Lindsay will be on the field for the passing downs and could be in line for garbage time points like Kearse.

D/ST Washington Redskins (DK $2,700)

The Redskins have been playing good defense save for the game against the Saints on Monday night. Last week they held the Cowboys to just 17 points, and now the enter a game against the reeling New York Giants.

The Redskins have a very good defensive line going against the porous Giants line, meaning lots of sacks on Eli Manning and little running room for Saquon Barkley, and Josh Norman will be covering Odell Beckham Jr.

It’s going to be a strong day for the Redskins defense.
