Who saw green this past week and started my guy Ladarius Green? I saw that pick as a no brainer last week and he came up huge. How about a touchdown along with two 2-point conversions last week? Not bad at all. I happen to start him in two leagues and in DFS, so I definitely “put my money where my mouth is.”

In the Week 7 Tight End Rankings Reaction, I was correct in that Gary Barnidge would not score a TD (Who I liked Less), but he had an impressive line with six receptions for 101 yards. This has finally caused me to give in to this guy and say he is for real. Barnidge was drafted in the fifth round in 2008, so I don’t know where he has been hiding, but I will chalk it up to being a late bloomer and he may be in the “Who I Like More” section of my tight end rankings reaction in the near future!

This week I think there are a ton of good plays at TE, so I will have fun picking my favorite. Much like when I go to a buffet, we are going to feast with my “Who I like More” TE this week.

I am going to say that this week you will be disappointed with the TE I like less. He can be described as a nasty vegetable, if we keep with our food theme, and will perform accordingly.

The So Called Fantasy Experts’ rankings allowed me to dig deep and find the flavor of the week.  Let’s go with the tight end rankings reaction!

Tight End Rankings Reaction

Who I Like More

Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs

Well, I have a strong feeling Jim Bob Cooter (the second-youngest OC in the NFL at 31 years old) will unleash this offense. Remember the days when Matthew Stafford would sling it 50 times? Jim Bob knows they can’t run the ball, so we will see a huge uptick in pass attempts against a pathetic Kansas City pass defense that has allowed 15 passing touchdowns and nearly 2,000 yards in seven games this season. That averages out to more than two touchdowns per game allowed (yes, I am a math genius).

Since Jim Bob will want to utilize what has not been utilized enough, we will see Stafford target Ebron, the ninth ranked TE in this week’s So Called Fantasy Experts’ rankings, plenty.  Keep in mind, Detroit has played some tough defenses (Denver, Seattle and Minnesota twice) so we haven’t seen the best of the offense just yet. But don’t fret, we will see at least one touchdown from Ebron this week.

Who I Like Less

Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Walker has been less than exciting this year as he has only scored one touchdown. He has been less than spectacular and is ranked eighth in the So Called Fantasy Experts’ rankings this week. The Titans have a total of 10 passing touchdowns in six games, which averages under two touchdowns per game. This is not encouraging unless you are more excited by receptions than touchdowns. The Texans have not been overly accommodating this year, only giving up three touchdowns to tight ends in seven games. Honestly, I am not excited about either a banged up Marcus Mariota or a healthy Zach Mettenberger as the means to my TE scoring. I expect nothing more than average numbers and a mediocre game from Walker this week.

This is the week of the Detroit Lions, so expect an offensive break out. Remember, “Ebron a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.”  So, find Ebron and start him where you can and avoid Delanie this week or accept mediocrity. I’ll see you all in Week 8 with my latest Tight End Rankings Reaction.
