Welcome back to the three Value Plays at Running Back for Week 9. This week wasn’t as much of a success with the value grabs only really hitting on one value play. This week there are many teams on bye so although there is still an abundance of backs the herd is thinned a little.

The Value Pick of Charcandrick West (20.2 points) was the only pick that panned out in Week 8; Justin Forsett (7.9 points) and Chris Johnson (6.9 points) did not meet their value, but they didn’t sink teams either.

The avoiding of these three wasn’t necessarily great advice last week. Latavius Murray (12.4 points), Dion Lewis (20.2 points) has been stellar all season and my doubts were unjust. Alfred Blue was just average with 9.7 points.

Also a reminder that I am not encouraging using two of my three picks each week as much as targeting one and avoiding others each week as you build your lineups.

With that I wish you all the best of luck, and encourage you to stay tuned for Levi Serfoss’ and my own DFS picks and lineups later in the week if you want targets or roster construction help on and even on Twitter.

Week 9 Daily Fantasy Football: 3 FanDuel Value Plays at RB

  1. DeAngelo Williams, Pittsburgh Steelers vs Oakland Raiders ($6,500)

Williams may actually be one of the most-owned players this week in daily and most sought after on waiver wires. His price is right, his matchup is juicy and high ownership or not I am playing him this week.

(Week 8 FanDuel Points: 13 /FPPG: 7.8 (but in three starts 15 plus)

  1. Jeremy Hill, Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns ($6,800)

The Bengals are favored heavily in this one, and if they get ahead early, the ground game could have an even bigger impact. I actually like both backs, but I give the edge in value and potential this week to Jeremy Hill.

(Week 8 FanDuel Points: 7.3 / FPPG: 9.8)

  1. Jeremy Langford, Chicago Bears @ San Diego Chargers  ($6,400)

Langford will likely be the starter, or at least the recipient of more carries due to Forte’s injury late in Week 8. Langford isn’t very flashy, but like Forte, he can catch the ball and wear down defenses. He also has a favorable matchup against the Chargers, who tend to give up 100-plus yards to opposing rushers.

(Week 8 FanDuel Points: 4.6 / FPPG: 3.4)

3 Running Backs to Avoid on FanDuel

  1. Latavius Murray, Oakland Raiders @ Pittsburgh Steelers ($7,000)

Pittsburgh doesn’t have a dominant run defense, but it is not awful. Oakland has been playing well, but in this game I can see it being a pass-heavy game. Murray will still get touches and points; I am just not sure he will meet value at $7,000.

  1. Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers @ Carolina Panthers ($6,700)

Eddie Lacy found the end zone last week, and besides that he didn’t look fantastic. He is supposedly back to normal and that should mean good things for Lacy owners, but not this week against one of the best defenses in the league. I am avoiding him in Week 9 in DFS.

  1. T.J. Yeldon, Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets ($6,400)

The Jets simply don’t allow many running backs to damage them, and Yeldon should fall into this category. He isn’t overly expensive but I would rather spend up and get one of the value backs I mentioned earlier.
